Egypt is a land of contrasts, both of the ancient world and the modern, as has been evidenced with the modern architecture of its cities and its ancient pyramids and sculpture. This architectural image is not architecture but rather an example of sculpture from the underwater excavations of the eastern harbour near Alexandria.
The Sphinx of Psammetique II is an example of the sculpture exhibition on site. It is from the Kom el-dikka archaeological site in the Delta region of Alexandria, Egypt. This sculpture is dated 595 to 589 B.C. The Sphinx of Psammetique II is made of yellow quartzite and an excellent example of the Late Period of Ancient Egyptian sculpture.
Architecture, archaeological and sculpture images are available for purchase by educational institutions and publishers as single images of high resolution, un-cropped or as parts of related subject sets.
